This Handbook is aimed primarily at singing students in german educational institutions. It is intended as a textbook and workbook and is therefore suitable both for use in the subject of practical Italian voice training and for independent learning.
In this handbook, in addition to small digressions in phonology and phonetics, which are intended to provide general orientation and explanation of terms, the normative phonetics - i.e. the correct pronunciation - of Italian is dealt with.
The Handbook is intended to help students:

to become familiar with the sound system of Italian and the most important features of Italian sounds;

to perceive phonetic peculiarities of Italian in comparison to German;

to analyze words, phrases, sentences and texts phonetically and read them correctly using the IPA alphabet;

to acquire the basics of the stage language and to practice the most important articulation patterns of Italian, especially with reference to the sung Italian music literature.
